Chapter and Verse

April 28 - June 2, 2010. Chapel Hill, North Carolina

This workshop will bring together our community of new and experienced writers for an exploration of the writing journey in both prose and poetry. Using a series of guided prompts we will experiment with image, point-of-view, setting, sound, and other elements of prose and poetry. We will examine notable texts from contemporary writers to discover their secret power. Participating writers will hone techniques for developing strong voices and images in their work.


Southeast Dance Leadership Conference

October 1-3, 2010. Haw River State Park, North Carolina

This fantastic conference brought together dance organizers and leaders from all over the country to focus on issues facing dance communities today. I taught beginning and advanced sound workshops to the greatest group of students ever.

I was selected as a writer-in-residence to focus on fiction and poetry projects currently underway.


Carrboro Poets Council

I was asked to serve on the Carrboro Poets Council to help develop poetry activities in the town.

West End Poetry Festival

I was invited to be a featured poet in this dynamic poetry festival. I'll be reading along with other North Carolina poets and writers. Books will be for sale!


Cindy Kallet and Grey Larsen

Two legendary performers coming together for an intimate evening featuring folk songs and dance tunes. Not to be missed. There will be a musician's class offered before the concert.


Mary McCaslin

November 30, 2008. House concert in Durham, North Carolina

Mary McCaslin represents an unbroken link between traditional American folksingers and today's "new folk" singer-songwriters. Known for her songs about the West, its landscape, and its outlaws as well as her insightful songs about relationships, Mary has influenced countless other performers.

NCSU Contra Dance

The folks at North Carolina State University are starting up a new contra dance series in Raleigh. We've seen terrific participation from young people in recent years. This energy is vital to keeping the tradition alive.
