Tunes

The sharing of tunes is an important tradition. It's a way that we can hand something down across the years. When you plant a tree it is possible that some day, after you are gone, people will marry beneath its shade. It might be made into a mantle in a fine home and witness events that shape history. It could bear up a child's daydream. The old tunes we have now share the same fate and hold a like value. Let's preserve those, and plant new ones.

Dances

Contra dancing and community dance information can be found here. If you haven't tried contra dancing, please consider doing so. While it is tremendously fun, I think its greater value is in the coming together of so many powerful (and unique) souls into one community. WARNING: This just might change your life. Don't say you weren't warned.

Instruments

This page describes the main instruments I use. Instruments are another focal point of that force that connects things: sound and wood, hands and hearts all coming together into one concrete thing that is itself nothing, until you light it up. Then look out! It is interesting to me that the making of musical instruments is such a quiet, slow and reflective activity.
